This was not her first Wimbledon experience. She failed to qualify last year, losing in both her qualifying rounds. And in 2018, she was beaten in the Girl's QF by Iga Swiatek of Poland, now the World Number 9. In between all that, of course, she has been in numerous comps, with various degrees of success, gaining valuable experience along the way. There is obviously something about her and i do hope she keeps her feet firmly on the ground as she rises through the ranks.
Her next match is against Ajla Tomljanovic currently ranked 75, and the Wimbledon crowd will be expecting Emma to beat her. However, the Croatian born Australian is a very dangerous opponent who, as recently as 2019 was ranked 39. Euphoria can be an unwanted distraction.
