Players never used to concede when they missed a shot, they would wait till their oppo had a go . Now they do. What if the other player wanted to pot a few/have a bit of table time?

when have you seen this? It is generally the etiquette to conceded when it is your turn. I have seen it occasionally usually when no more than a couple of colours remain and they concede by touching one of them with their cue.

Jack Lisowski just did it - there were still a couple of reds on the table.
I guess it depends at what stage the match is at. Lisowski's concession came at 4-3, so neither player were in need of a little potting practice.
I once saw Alex Higgins attempt to concede a frame whilst playing against Ray Reardon. Alex had just missed a shot and was well behind, but could still have won the frame. However he had left Ray with an easy red and he would almost certainly have gone on to win. Alex picked up the white and dropped it into a pocket. Ray was having none of it. He insisted on playing on, playing the white from hand and quickly cleared up. They were not the best of friends.

Quite right! I feel it's a bit disrespectful to concede when it isn't your "turn". But then that was Alex!
