Is Emma turning out to be the flop & disappointment of the year??
Watching her play, she seems to have lost her winning ways.
Currently playing Rybakina, lost first set 6-0!,
AH conversely having a dream of a contest like Emma had is also not normal.I remember when I played golf I had a day when everything went right and I actually parred the course. This was never repeated.
Despite winning the US Open, she is still as green as grass when compared to others who are ranked in and around her in world standings. Their rise has been gradual, her rise meteoric. Missing tournaments (as she has done) won't do her any good though. She needs all the game time she can get.
I'm in a sense pleased for her, she had perhaps began to believe in the press hype being poured on her for just one success. It will be a nasty shock, but character-forming one. If she's got what it takes, she will now start to really fight & she's very young.
Go Emma!
