In fairness Ichy, she hasn't been Russian since she was 18. It wasn't some ploy to avoid the ban of Russian players.

She was born in Moscow and still lives in Moscow even now. She should not have been playing if you accept that russians should not be playing.

But she is Russian, regardless of her passport, and given that for all the high profile Russian women over the past few years none have won since Sharapova in 2004, it’s indeed ironic.

It’s difficult because the rule was that players under those flags should not be allowed. You can’t really go beyond that without accusations of racism.
The real scandal is the decision to remove ranking points from the tournament.
