It’s pretty clear that not all countries’ anthems are suited to the “angel’s choir” treatment.

It seemed to take France an entire half of rugby to recover from the debacle of the Marseillaise.
Similarly Italy from what was frankly a Monty-Pythonesque treatment of theirs.
I really fear for Uruguay.

I hear what you mean.

But on a lighter note, managing to romp home with one player short is no mean feat. Ford 27, Argentina 10.

I’d just explained to our son about drop goals before Ford landed the first one.

They are are these days but I an always feel that one successful one can encourage multiple attempts. Even Argentina tried one.
And there was a S African (de Beer?) who landed 5 against England once.
Just as I was thinking that you don’t get many drop goals these days…

Agreed on the anthems - I’m Welsh so I’m more nervous about the “vocal arrangement” than I am about the match.
Agree about the anthems. It's the French (bless 'em), they do it in everything. If it looks (sounds) stylish - it doesn't really matter if it works or not. Obviously, no one thought about pitch.

I adored my Renault cars (now got a Peugeot) - but to have to remove the front bumper to change a duff light bulb?!
I've so many other memories like this.
The anthems in the South Africa v Scotland match are the first I've not heard being butchered.

I think in fairness many anthems are not badly suited to that approach.
Wales and Fiji for example also
