jno - Apologies as I got the question off TalkSport's Jack Bannister earlier today. I thought it was odd as well and I posted it on here without bothering to check as I thought that he of all people wouldn't say something like that without it being correct. As he was wrong then I have no bother with telling you all that Monty Panesar today took his 100 th wicket - so, many congratulations to him for reaching that milestone.
I think perhaps Jack was referring to the fact that Shane Warne was the fastest spinner to 100 wickets (and that took him 23 tests and 2 years 26 days). The fastest in terms of time was Ian Botham (2 years 5 days and 23 tests).
jno - thanks for reminding me of that website. A fascinating source of records.
