if there are 8 horses racing are the first 2 or the first 3 horses included in each way bets?

I put an each way bet on the third placed horse in the 2:05 at Kempton over jumps today. I was concerned that because there were only 8 horses in the race it would not pay out, do you think it will??

Its been a while since I was in a betting shop but it used to be a quarter of the odds for a place on the first 3 in an eight horse race.

it's definately the first 3 for 8 starters. The proportion is most likey a fith but it could be a quarter depending on certain factors.
