I thought it was Preston too. Forgot about Simpson, who as a Carlisle boy was born very close to Scotland but isn't Scottish.

Berwick might be the answer right enough though I'd contend they ARE a Scottish club. The ground might physically be in England but most of the town is in Scotland and they are members of the Scottish League ergo "a Scottish club".

The whole of Berwick-upon-Tweed is in England. The border follows the river Tweed for quite a distance, but turns north a few miles west of Berwick.

So it is when I look again. Not sure where I got the idea the river was the border from.

Doesn't change the point though. Whilst based in an English town it is a Scottish club. I think the question was meant to be Preston but Simpson was overlooked.

Except, as said above, it isn't. Paul Simpson isn't Scottish and breaks your chain of five Scots in between Davies and Irvine.

The Telegraph are also wrong then. Paul Simpson isn't Scottish, he was born in Carlisle and is very much English.
