I didn't see this so can those who did tell me if they think Wenger has a point or whether he's just whinging as usual. Firstly was it a back pass and secondly, did the referee allow the free kick to be taken too quickly?

The ref was definitely wrong, he allowed the free kick to be taken too quickly and he was impeding Sol Campbell when it was taken. There was no way it could be defended without Sol pushing the ref out of the way to get to the ball.
I'm surprised Whinger even saw the incident......oh no he's only blind when his players do something wrong........
To my mind the ref demanded the ball from the keeper - handed it straight to the Porto player and more or less, said put that one in then!
Right or wrong the score is 2-1. Ha ha.
I watched the game being an Arsenal fan and when i first saw the alledged backpass i wasnt actually sure if Sol had actually touched as he was so close to the ball it was hard to tell. On seeing the close-up replay footage though he did touch it. Why Fabianski picked it up though is beyond me and he did have a howler of a game with two direct errors that lead to both goals! As for the Free kick , it was taken very quickly but as the pundits pointed out this is allowed and we should have held onto the ball until we had the players back in position to defend the kick, more school boys errors it would seem!
However we should have had a Penalty and didnt so Wenger is perfectly within his right to whinge about that!
I just hope we can turn things around in the home leg and maybe we will have some of our missing players back, fingers crossed!

Ok thanks everyone. It seems Arsenal should have held on to the ball until they got the defence organised.
The first time I became aware of the possibility of a quickly taken free kick was when an Arsenal player (Thierry Henry I think) used it to score a goal in a vital match.

No doubt it was Mr Arsene Wenger who told them to do it. Now he winges about it.
Yes, here it is, against Chelsea

Why is that idiot Martin Hansson still refereeing. He was the ref when Thierry Henry 'HANDED' France a place at the world cup that robbed the Irish!
Firstly I'm a neutral Baggies fan and the nearest we get to European football is Cardiff and Swansea away.
The reason why I thought the goal shouldn't have stood was because it wasn't in "the spirit of the game"
I'm an old fuddy duddy though who still believes in sportsmanship etc...
R1Geezer - here is the Porto v Arsenal goal incident - judge for yourself

The keeper is a w@nker.... the keeper is a w@nker and I am an Arsenal fan

The keeper was to blame for both goals, they should invest in a world class keeper like Gomes

The gooners have been a Jekyll and Hyde team all season, listening to their fans on Talksport is laughable, one week they are phoning in saying they will win everything, the next they are saying Wenger should be sacked and they`ll win fook all so long as he is manager

They are like Liverpool, a 2 man team.... so when Fabregas moves to Barca in the summer, wave goodbye to a top four finish next season
