why was spains 1st penalty disallowed?

People in the penalty area before the kick is taken. Players must remain outside the 18-yard box and the little D. Partaguay's penalty should have been retaken for encroachment but it was allowed to stand as a miss.

Apart from the player taking the penalty and the opposing goalkeeper, all other players must remain the requisite distance from the ball *until* it's been kicked. If you watch the replay, you'll see that several other players had started to run towards the goal before the penalty was taken...

three Spanish players crossed over in to the arc so it was disallowed for encroachment

if you watch the replay 2 spanish players are in the D putting them less than 10 yards away from the ball at point of penalty being taken. Watch match of the day next season and watch how many don't get retaken. Also spanish players we're in the area for the paraguay penalty so that should have also been retaken.

he should have sent him off as he was last man. letter of the law!!! also the saved spot kick should have been as good as a nother retake as fabregas was bought down by the keeper who was nowhere near the ball... just shows that refs give what they want when they want. If a team concedes 2 pens within seconds of each other then they concede pens...
