I am 66 and my husband had worked for the company for over 25 years and we have been married for 20 years. the company he worked for just closed and he his about to collect a huge pension. He told me that I will not see any money from his pension and I was wondering if I was entitle to any and if so can I file a claim to what i am entitled to.
Well it would be very likely that you would be entitled if you were separated and getting a divorce, but I presume you are still living together? I would also presume that if his pension is paid into a bank account which is in his name only then there might be a problem. You need at the very least to go see the Citizens Advice Bureau in my opinion.
Pinkilady. It is now our business to query a married couples financial affairs. Some husbands and wives don't combine their finances in any way and their are still many wives who rely on their husband to dish them out money.
He is also collecting unemployement and said he won't give that to me because he works hard for it. It seem like i might have to file for a divorce. Anyway thank you all for your answers
When I got divorced from a wealthy man I got nothing at all thanks to his good accountants, solicitor and barrister. You would need the same, 50% is not standard at all.
I don't understand this. I'm not aware that there are any rules or laws about how much a husband must give to a wife (or vice versa) in a married relationship.
