I'm not sure if I ever had it, got the dollar sign instead.

Have tried various capital keys but no luck yet. Also inverted commas (capital 2) is the @ and the @ on the keyboard is "

Does anybody have any ideas please ?

hi alba mine is on the number 3 button if that helps
mine is above 3.
Start/Control Panel/Regional language settings.....make sure PC is set to English UK
sounds like you have american keyboard set up instead of english.

Thank you both. Technology confuses me and I confuse easily.

I've also tried the Control Panel and Keyboard on the PC too. I'm not fussed but it can be irksome.
have you got "EN" written in lower right of windows screen? try clicking on that and changing to English (UK)

is what i get when mine is set to american too, so it must be that.
Where you have the hash key (#) mine is under the tilda (~) key next to the big enter button, and my £ key is above 3

I think it's sorted, now, I need to log off and log back in to activate the thing

R Click and remove the American Keyboard once you clicked on, and set the English to default.
That also gets rid of the keyboard selector icon in tray.
