Why is Spotmau being awkward?

I have just connected a 500Gb external hard drive to my PC (Windows XP) intending to back up my internal hard drive. My computer recognises the new HD, calling it Drive L: but Spotmau's Clone Genius keeps telling me, in effect, that I need a second hard drive. How do I tell it that I damn-well have a second HD so why don't they get on with it? (Spotmau's Help service is not responding.)

Any good laptop/iPad deals out there??

Thanks, AlBags, for your help. Sorry to be a nuisance but it's a long time since I downloaded anything from the internet and I've forgotten how to RUN it. I asked for a download of driveimage from the site you gave me and saved it. Now how do I RUN it?
