My three year old Dell Inspiron 1525 needs replacing. I was planning on buying the latest version of the same from Dell but wondered if anyone had any recommendations?

It's only used for web surfing and word/excel type stuff, no gaming.

TIA

I've no experience of Toshiba, I will take a look.

Thanks for the link Mark, I'll bear it in mind. I was looking more for recommendations on makes and models. My experience is limited to Dell, IBM and HP, been happy with the first two but hated the screen on the HP.

What are Acer like? They seem to get good reviews and are at a good price point.

I'll be grateful for any other views.
I' ve had an Acer for 18 months with no troubles and it does exactly what I want. There's nothing quite like having a good mess around with various machines ( which I did at John Lewis) to see if you like eg the screen or the keyboard etc. I bought at John Lewis also because of good price and included TWO year warranty and they have excellent after-sales. Very pleased with my Acer with Windows 7.
