Outook Express Error
I have finally (I think) managed to create an email account for Outlook Express, but i keep getting the following message appearing, every five seconds or so :
"Please enter your user name and password for the following server". I click on OK , do what is asked, then it appears again every five seconds or so, whatever else I am doing.
Any ideas please on how to get rid of it?

Whoever provides your e-mail account requires you to enter a User Name and password before you can connect to their system and collect /send e-mail. Your e-mail service provider will have given you this information,and you need to enter it into the account settings .
If the message keeps appearing, it's because the user name and/or password that you've entered don't match those that the e-mail server is expecting.

Thanks for that, but I got the info regarding the user name and password from my ISA and reading the info from Outlook Express and that`s what I entered. The message I mentioned displayed is the result of that, and I assume they gave me the correct info. I`ve tried lots of different ways of solving the problem but it`s still happening.

Which email provider is your account with? If we know that we'll be able to tell you if you've entered the correct settings. Some ISPs have slightly unusual settings. For example, most require you to enter your username as just the first part of your email address (i.e. the bit before the @ sign) whereas some require you to enter the full email address.

My ISP is the Post Office, so the user name is :
[email protected]. Asit happens, they`ve spelt my surname wrongly, but have it correct on my account details, but I`ve tried both spellings and the message still comes up.

I'm beginning to think that your problem lies 'at the other end'. (i.e. with your ISP). See below.
However I suggest starting by deleting your account details and re-entering them. Go to Tools > Accounts > Mail. If necessary, click on the name of your account, to highlight it. Then click on 'Remove' and 'Yes'. Next, click on Add > Mail and create the account again, carefully following the instructions here:

I've previously had to get two different ISPs to sort out problems ('at their end') in relation to my email access. They both initially refused to accept that it wasn't me that had made an error, but (after a lot of hassle from me) they managed to put things right. I've also had to go through the same arguments on behalf of an elderly friend, whose ISP initially refused to accept that I'd checked her Outlook Express settings with the greatest of care.
