Microsoft Windows Updates ! duh
I know Updates are important for the safe running and efficiency of our PC's, but it's the length of time it takes to downlod and install them which infuriates me.
I run Vista Basic and today there were 21 Updates to install which took 1hr and 20min which includes restarting the Computer as well.
Any one else think that Microsoft are taking the p*ss at times ? duh

I have just checked my Windows updates (for Windows 7 and Office) and they are 78Mb in size, which is quite large.
If it takes a long time it is probably because you internet is slow.
Why not set it going and then make a cup of tea, or go for a walk, or watch a TV program. It is very simple to plan for these things to be done while you do NOT need to use the computer.

At work I dutifully install all "important" updates and any others which sound as if they might be good. Sometimes it's quick, sometimes very, very slow.
At home I haven't installed updates for years ( XP.)
I have no more problems at home than at work.
MS sell most to business and and have to try to cover themselves against the accusation that they have neglected even the remotest possibilities of hacking.
If my software seems to work, then I see no reason to fix it. As for hacking, I can't believe anyone would think it worth hacking my home PC, even if I published my logon & password to the world!
