You probably need the esata drivers installing.
Did you not get a mini cd with drivers?
What does Device Manager say?
Are you running XP SP3 .. or Vista ... or 7?
BIOS will have nothing to do with it.
PS

Where are you actually connecting the E-Sata cable to?
Look in Dev Mgr under SCSI and Raid controllers .. Entries there that correspond?
I've a dock with E-Sata connection. The device is listed as Via VT6421 Raid Controller.
I had to install the drivers supplied for that chipset before anything on that board was recognised.

hi albags, thanks for the replys running w7, looked right through divice manager even show hidden devices nothing there, i also have no listing for SCSI and Raid controllers, also no disc with HDD as the instruction manaual says it should be found by computer when HDD is connected and switched on, could you tell me what drivers i should be looking for please, thanks in advance
viamraid.sys in Windows/System32/Drivers is running my E Sata on its Via VT6421 Raid Controller PCi board.

Again ... What are you plugging into, exactly? Some sort of card reader or a proper card? If a card reader .. drivers may not be allowing ESata to be identified.
