my shared folder file

toshiba satellite laptop.every time i switch it on the "my shared folder" file appears on the screen.very annoying. deletes ok.any ideas on how to prevent this occurring.any help very much appreciated.

many thanks chuck.followed instructions but ended up with a different key than shown in the geek instructions.does this matter?

Save your registery first so you can go back. Or do a system backup. Then give it a try? But first be sure it is the one with the messenger sharing folder reference in it.

I see you can download a "hack" to do it as an alternative. May be better than editing it yourself ?

Or just uninstall messenger if you don't use it.
