IE8

I downloaded IE8 two days ago on my PC (maybe foolishly), and now all video downloads are running very slowly and then stopping.
What can I do?

Do you mean IE8 or maybe IE9 which is the latest version.

What version of Windows are you running?

Video downloads - Youtube, Iplayer, etc.
I am running XP.

1) make sure you have the latest version of flash

2)check your internet speed and post back results

3) check how much RAM you have (right click on my computer, select properties) and post back.

Startuo and uninstall - 387
I am now asked to buy the software - do I need to do this?
RAM 1GB (I think)
Have installed flash (I think)

Well that's not what I asked, but is useful anyhow :)

You've got a fake antivirus infection on your computer...

Run a full scan with malwarebytes while in safe mode...

You'll be best off using another computer to download the file in the link below and put it on a usb memory stick, or CD. Then start the computer with the problem in safe mode by switching it on and tapping the F8 key straight away. When you get the boot menu select safe mode with networking. Once the computer is started install malwarebytes from the USB stick, or CD and let it update (if you have a earlier version of windows than windows7 wireless won't work for this step, you'll need to connect by Ethernet cable). Once the program has installed and updated run a full scan with it and remove anything it finds.
