Laptop Question

I have put xp-pro into a laptop which I thought would over-ride the existing home edition. This has not happened and I now have two programmes on the one computer. I have rebooted it with the original home edition but I still also have the xp-pro and there is now confliction. One thing that is happening is that I can get on line by using wireless but I cannot get an internet page up. Is there a way out of this hole? Luckily, I do use a desktop most of the time. Thanks for any help.

The first point is that if you are performing a clean install and do not want to end up with two operating systems, is that you need to delete the existing partitions, then recreate them. You have an opportunity to do this during the install process.
You haven't given much detail about your second problem, but the most likely reason is that you have a secure wireless connection on your router and you haven't entered any authentication details to allow access to it from the laptop wifi adaptor.

Can't see why any home user would want to change from XP home to XP pro anyhow. pretty much the only difference between the two is in the networking support and unless you are running a windows domain at home you won't be using the extra features of pro.

Thanks rojash. I know you're right! The thing is once we could for instance take a programme from one computer and put it in another, etc. etc. with ease, but the newer computers have it all tied up now and it is so much harder to do anything - they seem to be in complete command. Not that this is an excuse....... I know that my tech knowledge is limited but I will have a try on an old computer. Regarding the second problem, the wireless is secure and I went along with all the necessary relevant details asked but it failed at the last hurdle, which puzzles me.

Dear Chuck, I don't really know either! I just thought I would just update an old laptop to pass on to someone else. I realise my mistake now.
