I seem to have lost my toolbar that runs on top my screen. How do i get it back? Could you please answer in non-computer language as I'm a bit of a technology Luddite.

Have you accidentally pressed the F11 key? This has the effect of expanding the "page" and eliminating toolbars top and bottom. Just press it again. Or just try it anyway for fun.

Ok. What program/application/function were you performing when you noticed the toolbar's absence?
Are you in Firefox? Have you recently upgraded?
Also go to View (top of screen) Toolbars see if yours is ticked.

Went on e-mail spelt a word incorrectly & lo & behold no spell checker.
Try pressing the Windows key on your keyboard. That's the key with a sort of 4-part flag on it, and it's on the bottom row of keys, 2nd from the left.

Can you tell us exactly what you can see at the top of your screen?
Was you toolbar Google? If so when it upgraded the toolbar is no longer supported, you will have to wait for the new version.

You can display Firefox toolbar but I can't remember how. Try IE
Something similar happened to me recently - if I remember rightly I went to 'Start' - then 'all programmes' and clicked on Internet Explorer - but presumably you'd be looking for Firefox to click on

A popular "cure" for stubborn computer problems is to switch off, wait about a minute, then switch on again. This is a "when all else fails" solution.

I'll try that BB I'll be back in 5mins, thanks.
Think you should look back and read davethedogs answer again.

Firefox has not got a spell check on any toolbar so it was almost certainly the google toolbar spellcheck.

though you don't need any extra spell checks on firefox, it spellchecks as you type and underlines misspelt words in red for you, then all you have to do is right click on the underlined word and select the correct spelling. just make sure you have the British English dictionary installed.

While you were offline, I did a bit of digging around on the internet, and I came up with the following:
A. Press Alt key to temporarily show old style menus.
To show them permanently, right-click on an empty section of the tab strip and check Menu Bar in the pop-up menu.
B. Click View, then Toolbars, click Navigation Toolbar.
C. If Navigation Toolbar is hidden:
right-click on empty section of tab strip.
pop-up menu appears. Click Navigation Toolbar.

Try B first, it looks as if it might help.
