I'ts just not my day today help please

Hi Guys
When I use the icons on my desk top for the Internet, E Mail, Answerbank THEY WORK ,WHEN i TRY SOME OF THE. of the others .the screen closes and message appears sayiNG there has been an error .
I have tried to run Spybot and Malware but it closes down .
Any ideas please.

You 'may' be infected. What Browser are you using .. and what OS?
First thing to do is a scan with installed AV.
1. Switch OFF System Restore.
2. Re-Start in SAFE mode and run a FULL scan with AV and Malwarebytes.
3. Restart in Normal Mode and Try again.
4. All well .. switch ON System Restore again.

I'll agree with Al's starting suggestions.

If you don't know how to access Safe Mode, you need to press F8 while your PC is booting. (Don't worry that you desktop looks very odd; it's simply because your video driver won't have loaded).

OK, try System Restore then (to take your PC's registry back to an earlier date).

Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.

Hi guys I have tried each method ,I did manage to find the restore off tab.
nothing has worked I scanned with Malware,spybot,AV and ad ware none of which registered one hit .If you think of anything else I would be so grateful.

I've got desk top icons but I never click on any of 'em. Put all your stuff in 'Favourites' then you know its there & just go into it when you want.

Is it IE8 you are using?
When you have this problem .. are you clicking PROGRAM icons .. or Internet shortcut icons?
