Blood red laptop screen
I have a Sony Vaio laptop which just lately on boot-up shows a blood red screen which I can only correct by thumping the lid or the flat area above the keyboard.
It seems that something is loose inside.
Anyone any idea what it can be and if I can fix it easily myself?

the screen connection to the main board is normally just under the panel above the keyboard and on most laptops can be removed by undoing the screws along the rear edge of the underneath (including any under the battery) and then carefully prising the panel of with a flat screw driver.
However if you post the precise model of the sony it would be easier to give more precise directions.

You'll need to remove the palmrest (which seems to be the whole top cover) to gain access to the connector... I've seen easier ones to get al!
This is the service manual for that model which should help..
