have spent the best part of an hour not being able to log into the computer.
I put in password correctly, lower case only, and all got back was
message saying "incorrect password, under the log in box were two messages
one "change password: hint ******
and something else
my first thought as always has someone hacked the computer
i phoned isp, no joy, who told me to contact Microsoft, which i did, after fifteen fruitless minutes the line was disconnected.
I switched the router off, left it, switched it back on and then switched on computer and here we are, but why did it not accept password, first time
As the IT Crowd tell us, sometimes it is best to switch off and on again. Chances are something in the modem/router got in a twist and was corrupting the password.
no battery problems, it just wouldn't let me log in, the tool at the ISP asked me if i could do start up! No, if you can't log in you can't get to start up, i give up.
"'m mystified, and angry that yet again i have had to call the ISP who were no help."
Your ISP is responsible for supplying a broadband connection. That's it. It's not their responsibility to deal with problems on your computer, any more than (say) the BBC are responsible for problems with your TV.
rojash
that's why after more than 20 minutes he suggested i phone microsoft.
For much of the conversation with ISP i couldn't understand what he was saying, and after the 10th time of my explanation, that i couldn't log in because the password kept coming up as incorrect, which it wasn't, but he didn't seem to understand.
