I am wondering if it is the inkjets...which I doubt..I sometimes buy an alternative to the genuine Espson cartridges..Jetsomething..and they have always worked fine... what is puzzling, is that two them are working fine, while it says the other two are "incompatible""",yet are the same.grrr!!!
Do not want to have to buy a new printer(all-in-one),just had to replace my mobile, new barrel and key in car...but..would be lost without my printer so,what do I do?????

Create a .DOC file have a row of each of the Ink colours, i.e. Magenta, Yellow, Cyan and Black letters.
Print the .DOC file and you should be able to see which ink is causing the problem.
If any particular colour is missing or horizontally streaked then it either needs replacing or cleaning as suggested above.
I would suggest that if only one colour is streaked then create half an A4 page using just that particular colour and try to clear it by printing it once or twice as the cleaning sessions run by some printers can use a terrible amount of all the inks.
Hope this helps.

Oh Lord,sounds complicated,probably isn`t.What is .DOC file.how do I make one.
When I printed out the head cleaning page, two colours were missing, blue and yellow, yet before it was ok.But when I printed out a pic.the yellow was missing.Wish it would make up it`s mind!!!!
I am going to buy Epson catridges and if it is still messed up...a new printer it has to be...so fingers crossed.
But Wak,enlighten me on te .DOC please.

I would add that when you print out a coloured picture, all the colours are mostly blended together and on some pictures you cannot tell if a certain colour is missing or not, depending on the picture subject, therefore a page printed with coloured typed letters (Red. Yellow, Blue and Black) as suggested makes the missing colours more obvious and the horizontal streaks can show that some of the jets in a particular colour are blocked and need cleaning.
Stupid me not realising you meant a the word pad!
Have no streaks etc, have gone into all that...
The pic missing the yellow was easy to see cos there were two yellow items in it.Now on another pic, black hair was brown......then when reinstalled the cartridges..thought it worth a go..the whole pic was PINK!!!!!
I know what you mean about colours mixing, basically they are primary ones to create other colours.
Will have a go tomorrow with the .DOC..I know what you mean I should do.
Thanks so much

Hi kloofnek, I also have an Epson printer and never buy the genuine cartridges. Epson try to force you into buying theirs by putting this 'not compatible' message up. Run the Replace Cartridge routine, take the offending ones out and put them back. That may well sort your problem out.
If it doesn't, run the head cleaning routine and print a test page. If it still doesn't look right, you may need to clean the heads again. I've had to do it two or three times in the past before it works properly.

Thanks Scotman
Wak..have sorted it,but it took a few head cleaning to achieve it ,plus am using original Epson cartridges.I agree somewhat with Seajaypea, alternatives do work, used them for years, but for some unknown reason this time, the printer decided to play up.
At least do not have to buy a new one...yet.
Whilst on this subject, has anyone used the wireless ones yet,I was looking incase I had to purchase new and most of the All-in-One I fancied are wireless.
