....I'm not sure how to transfer all my data from the old to the new.I know files can be transferred but what about 'favourites' 'programmes', etc...I simply don't know,.... please help tia

A number of ways to transfer files. Put them on a USB stick or CD or DVD and then put USB stick or CD/DVD in the new PC and just copy them.

Or copy the files to an external hard drive and use that.

Or if you have a router plug both PCs into the router and copy the files from one to the other directly (you may have to set up some Windows shared folders to do this)

It will depend on the browser you are running where favorites are held, but for IE then they are held in the user\favorites folder. "User" is of course your name.

Programmes cant be moved across to a new computer but all have to be reinstalled on the new computer.

If you are using XP, you can use the Files & Settings Transfer Wizard. That will keep all settings and themes, and collect all documents and other specified files.
You can do the same with an app built into MS Office (if you use it)

There is the Easus todo backup program which will clone the entire current system disc including Programs, registry and all other date.

You clone the entire current hard drive on to a backup hard drive (portable?),
format the new hard drive and then restore the cloned image on the portable h/drive to the new h/drive.
Be sure to read the instructions given in the program.

^^ Yes but, unless you really know what you are doing and/or your new system will be identical (or, at the very least, extremely similar) to your old one, you may find this rather confusing. Although the utility mentioned has the ability to support dissimilar hardware, in my experience these things never work 100% correctly. Far better to back up only your data and then reinstall operating systems and applications from their original media.
