A "good" repairer? The best way to find a good one is through personal recommendation. Otherwise you're taking a chance that your chosen repairer will do a good job. Look in your local Yellow Pages, and check on one who has a website (I know your computers aren't working OK, but you could go to a public library and use their computer). I used a local repairer to fix my PC, and put more memory in while he was at it, and he did that. He charged me £160. I don't know if that was a fair price or not, but I paid him and my PC has been fine ever since.
When I bought my laptop just over a year ago, I took out insurance against any breakdown etc. It costs me just £3.99 a month, and so far I have had to use them twice when my laptop has crashed.. They collect it and return it to me ; best money I have ever spent I think. Without it I wouldn't have been able to afford to get it fixed.I know this doesn't help you with your problem katiecarol, but this is is one instance of insurance paying off.
