Copy and paste what? The web address to use as a link eg
http://www.theanswerb.../Question1066009.html
Or text in a page?

Can you highlight it, right click and copy and then paste?
Which method are you attempting to use?

The way that I'd do it would be this:
1. Select the relevant text. (Drag the mouse cursor across it or, if it's a paragraph, triple-click on it. If it's a URL in the address bar, simply right-click on it)

2. Right-click on the selected text. (Not required if it's a URL, 'cos it's already been done). Select 'Copy'.

3. Go to the location where the text is to be pasted, right-click and select 'Paste'.

If that doesn't work for you, where is it going wrong?

yes factor, a web address to us as a link, tried right click, no option there to copy or paste!.......tried to add a photo on here too from tinypics, that doesn't work either even though I followed the instructions totally!....
which IE, welsh, are you on IE9 now? I am, I can still copy and paste, no difference.
I always highlight item and press CTRL C then to paste CTRL V
When you right-click on the URL, does it become highlighted? If not, highlight it by triple-clicking on it (or by dragging the cursor over it). Then right-click.
If you click on the URL in the web adress box does it highlight the address?
If so you should then be able to right click and copy.
At what stage does it fail?
Question Author
Chris, it's working now I think, I was right clicking on the web address, and then trying to highlight it afterwards, didn't realise that I didn't need to do that!........Oh I am silly!..........thank you!...........will give it a try again now!........let you know how it goes!..........don't hold your breath!.........I'll find a way to mess it up for sure......lol.............
Another (longer) way is to right click anywhere on the page, then click properties. You'll then get a box which give s alot of info about the page including the URL-eg http://www.theanswerb...09.html#postananswer.
Just highlight that URL then copy and paste it
Question Author
managed to copy and paste from youtube!........an error occurred so it won't play!......but at least I did copy and paste it!.............thanks for your help factor and Chris!..........where would I be without you guys!........
Question Author
so deflated!...........managed to copy and paste the link!...........then an error!.............Arrrggghhh
Did you enter the youtube link URL in the "enter youtube link here" box ? What message did you get?
If that doesn't work just paste it into the answer box but leave a gap between that and other text
Question Author
no factor, didn't do that, just highlighted the youtube URL, and right clicked and selected copy, went to AB and selected paste!.........Oh did it wrong again!......
One of the big problems with IE9 that I've seen is the address bar is very short, meaning you can't even see all of fairly short URLs.

You need to make sure you are selecting all of the URL, not just what you can see...

try double left clicking in the address bar and then (without moving the mouse) right clicking and selecting copy.
Question Author
thanks chuck!.......will try that!..........
Wish I knew what you were all talking about. This computer is a complete mystery to me.
DOUBLE left-clicking, Chuck? Surely that only selects one 'word' within the URL? (e.g. if I double-click on the URL of this page, I'll select 'Technology', or 'Computers', etc, depending upon where I've clicked)

To select the WHOLE of the URL it needs to be TRIPLE left-clicking, doesn't it?
Question Author
tried triple left clicking Chris, seems to bring up all of the URL, will try again tomorrow!.....a bit confused here now!....not good with technology at the best of times!........lol..........thanks for the help..........
