Zone alarm firewall

I am running the above (free version) when I opened my pc a message came up 'you are not protected, running an old version of firewall > to update'. When I checked ZA it read 'you are protected, no action required' What do I do, please. I also have MSS and Malware. TIA rosy

Open the Zone Alarm program .. look for help tab or link ... 'About'
What version does it say is installed?

It just says -current product -Zone Alarm Firewall

afaic Windows' own built in firewall is just as effective (as long as you keep it updated) if not better. It just gets on with it quietly in the background.
That's what I use.

Thank you both for replying. I have always used ZA paid and free and never had any problems up to now. Maybe it does need updating but how do you tell when there is conflicting info, I just never had a pop up from them saying this before.rosy

There HAS to be a version number somewhere.
Go to Programs Add/Remove from Control Panel ..
In XP you can click on 'Support Info' when highlighted.

A properly configured Firewall will be better than the basic Windows one.

Thank you for your answer Albags and the link to the forum. I looked on the control panel and found Zone Alarm version 9.2.057.000 but it said last used 16.2.2009!! That was probably when I paid for it. The warning hasn't shown up again so can you tell me if you think it might be o.k? Iknow,- how long is a piece of string!but I am pretty hopeless with technology I'm afraid.I will look at the forum anyway.Thanks again rosy
