I've run the CCleaner to remove files from the hard drive and am returning the laptop to factory settings, but I'm being asked to chose country and language and I don't want to do that as I'm hoping to sell it - should I just ignore this and turn the power off? I bought it brand new and I can't remember what I had to do then to start using it.

Have you forgotten what country you're in and what language you use ? :-D

I suspect turning it off wouldn't be a problem, but if I started something like a return to factory settings I think I'd go through the questions just to be sure.

No, I know that I'm here, it's just that I didn't want to set it up with any preferences as i don't know where it will be going?

Sorry - accidetally posted that before I'd finished

the next window brings up choosing user name and picture - this is the bit I'm not sure about completing.
Unsure. Maybe you have the option of continuing having not set one up ? Or maybe you should add an admin login so folk can get on and sort things. I'm surprised if creating a login is obligatory though. For single user/owners it ought not be necessary, but I wouldn't put it past MS to insist.

Thanks for your help, OG - I'm going to try an HP forum to see if anyone there knows about things like this.
