Slow or freezing

My laptop has suddenly started to go really slowly and sometimes freezes. The only way I can "unfreeze" is to do file manager and shut down. I regularly sweep for viruses so I have no idea what is causing this. Please keep any replies simple as I'm not a "techie"! TIA

If it only occurs when you're browsing the web (or possibly after you've just been doing so), try clearing your browser's cache periodically. Instructions here:

If it occurs at other times, try using System Restore to take your laptop's registry back to a date before the problem first arose. (Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore).

Thanks Chris. I will try that tonight when I get home from work and will let you know how I get on!
If you are with Virgin, they are updating everything thus making things very slow for a while.
