& at $200 I don't think so. I am now of the opinion that Outlook 2000 is not compatible with W7.
The odd thing is that everything else in the prog ( Word etc.) works a treat. I'll stick with Thunderbird for my mails.
Thanks again.

W7 users are expected to download Windows Live Essentials, which includes Windows Live Mail. (Microsoft can't supply it directly with Windows 7, as to do so would contravene EU anti-competition regulations):
http://explore.live.c...-other-programs?T1=t3
(Despite the reference to XP, that's the correct link for W7. Click on 'View system requirements for confirmation).
Outlook is supported by W7 but only, it seems, from Outlook 2003 onwards:
http://www.msoutlook.info/question/303
However that link suggests that you might be able to get around your current problem by installing Outlook 200 in a specific mode. Quote: "Outlook 2000 cannot be installed in Internet Mail Only Mode (IMO Mode) and should always be installed in Corporate/Workgroup Mode (CW Mode) to prevent a wab.dll error".
(Don't ask me how to actually do it though; I haven't got a clue!)

Thanks for your splendid efforts Chris, however even with all the info supplied I am still unable to use the Outlook 2000 site which is a great shame because it appears on the surface to be ok.
It opens al-right & all of my present & past emails are showing, however if I attempt to reply to one of them or try to add a new email address I get the dreaded notice ''Unable to Find The Wab DLL''. I did try to go into the links you supplied but one of the things that happened is on the Step by Step Walkthrough one of the points suggested is '' Choose HTTP As The Server Type'' & when I put that in it is immediately rejected as not being compatible ( swears & kicks the P/C)
