Drive Max

Does anyone on Theanswerbank know anything about Dell Dimension Desktops,I did something stupid and put Drive Max on my computer to renew old drivers that were out of date,when it came to updating the mouse as I did this the computer screen went off.
I did write to Dell twice,and sent them two emails as well without reply,I spoke to someone on answerbank who gave me a direct link to Dell.
I spoke to someone from India on the telephone,and he told me that it would cost me £29-00 to look to see if my Hard Drive was ok which it was,I was told then they would send me some discs to sort the computer out that would cost me £31-80.
I have a neighbour who knows more about computers than I do,so he helped me get the computer to the signing on screen,the only problem is the mouse will not move.
I was told on answerbank to take the mouse off of the computer and put it back on,but it's still not working.
I have been in touch with Dell again and they tell me they will have to go into my Hard Drive to sort the problem out but it will cost me another £69-00.
Does anyone on answerbank have any ideas at all as what to do .

It would help a little if you said what version of windows....

But if you start the computer up, and then press the windows key (or windows key + R if windows XP) and then type in devmgmt.msc and press enter the device manager should load, you can then navigate to the mouse listing using a combination of tab and the arrow keys, press enter to open the properties for the mouse, go to the second tab (again using the tab and arrow keys) and highlight the roll back driver option and press enter and follow prompts....

If the rollback driver option isn't available then try uninstalling the driver (selecting remove driver when asked) and then restart the computer.
