Hi all. I downloaded the Bearshare music download software on my laptop a while ago. After a couple of uses I tried to remove it. I did the usual 'uninstall' through the 'control panel' (Vista).
It appeared to have worked, although ever since then, when my internet connection is slightly slow, I find whenever I try to select a page on a website, I am automatically directed to a 'bearshare search page'??
I recently tried to load my Yahoo email page, however wen clicking 'mail', it constantly directed me to bearshare "search for yahoo mail" page, with the bearshare icon in the address bar. Any suggestions anyone?
Many thanks.

Peer to peer downloaders are a great way to invite trouble by picking up malicious downloads. Avoid them like the plague.

Thank you both for the above. However, I can't find anything in the 'C/program files' that has bearshare, it appears to be uninstalled, although I still get the bearshare search page intemittently.
Download and install Malwarebytes anti malware (free version), run a scan and it should remove any spyware that bearshare installed. You also need to check that your search default is set to Google (or whoever you use) and disable any browser add-ons (toolbars) that may be present from bearshare.
