Excel 207 Problem

I use Windows 7 and I am drawing a family tree using Excel 2007. I am on page 88.

However, when I am adding shapes, I sometimes have problems adding in words (names of people) into the shapes. Excel seems to seize up. The various menus at the top of the page go light as well.

Any ideas how I can get rid of this problem, so I can add names into the shapes that I use without any problem.

Don't know anything about Excel but just interested to know why you don't use one of the dedicated Heritage sites for your familly tree? I use Ancestry and the software is quite amazing, cross referencing ..photos etc....Just curious :-)

I like to control what I do and what is seen, when adding tree information. I do not want to rely on outside companies, although I use these for research or contacts. I use Word mainly for my trees, but also use Excel for a very large tree I am constructing, since it offers limitless pages when I add in names, etc. This part of my tree should take two years to complete and should take up over 400 pages, I estimate.
