Microsoft Works is a collection of programs which includes a word processor.

Unfortunately it is not the same as Microsoft Word which uses a different format so few people will be able to open his Works document.

See if he can create it as a pdf file.

It is very easy to convert a Word document to a pdf file so converting a Works document may be no more difficult.

There are plenty of free programs that can create pdf files, like this one called pdf995 (there are others)

Just to make clear, you dont CREATE the document in pdf format.

You install a program like pdf99, then you create the Works document as normal.

You then "print" the Works document, and one of the printer options available is pdf995.

You select that and it converts the Works document into a pdf file.

You then send the pdf file to people.

A pdf file can be opened with Adobe Reader which is free and most people already have it installed.

The great thing about a pdf file is that it is a "read only" file so nobody can take his document and make changes to it, they can only read it "as is".

great may thanx and will get this passed onto him
As an alternative you could suggest he saves the file as an RTF document. This can be opened by most word processing programs.
