My flat screen monitor is "on the blink", I think. The screen has a pinkish hue spreading up from the bottom and sometimes, when I switch it on, it is an all over hue!! Switching it off and on again clears it though.
I think it is time for a new one and am wondering if all the monitors I look at will be compatible with any computer?? I want to get one from Ebay.
Please don't ask what make of comp' I have is as I don't know!!!
Besides the size of monitor, virtually the only thing that need concern you is the connectivity.
All monitors will be supplied with a VGA input and may additionally have DVI and/or HDMI inputs.
I would guess that your PC only has a VGA monitor output (on a 15 way sub-D connector), even so you might want to consider a monitor that has DVI and/or HDMI. Should you upgrade your PC you will then be able to realise the improved PC monitor outputs via these connectors.
Unless you use your PC to play high-end games and/or need accurate colour rendition/resolution – subtle specification differences between monitor models should not concern you.
I can't help with your monitor problem but if you need to replace it, then it seems they are very cheap at the moment. I bought a Technika 23 inch TV/Monitor, with a built-in DVD player from Tesco, and it was less than £150. Its good enough to use as a living room TV, especially if you don't have enough room for a large flat screen.
There is a considerable variation in the power consumption of monitors of the same size. Other than this and connectivity there is little else to judge them by.
