I.E. Cannot Display...
When I go on line the connection normally opens with Google on the screen (www.google.co.uk/), but for some reason I frequently see 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage'. Can someone please suggest why this happens and what to do about it? I have a Google icon on my task bar and clicking that will usually help to make the connection but why does it happen that way?

I am extremely happy with Firefox as my default Browser, although a lot of ABers have a preference for Google Chrome:-

I am a little confused when you say ordinary Google. Do you mean the Google search page which comes up on your screen when you open Internet Explorer.
Google Chrome is different; it's a Browser which you can have in your computer as well as Internet Explorer. In fact you can have as many Browsers as you wish to have and, if you don't want a particular one which has been downloaded, you can easily remove it. In fact I did have Opera as one of mine but didn't like it and got rid of it; which has left me with Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Safari. At the moment I am using FF Beta13 as my default Browser.

Yes Ron, I did mean the Google search page that comes up on the screen when I open Internet Explorer (or should do if IE will display it!) Your answer is very interesting thank you and I'll give Chrome a try and maybe one or two others. Curiously I've been looking at definitions of 'browsers' and 'search engines' and find Google listed under both headings. All for now - time for some shut-eye!
