I am sorry to admit at last that Ubuntu has proved too difficult for me to continue ( I think that age may have something to do with it) so I would be extremely grateful if someone could help me to delete it. I have already deleted it from control ( Windows 7 ) but unfortunately it is still very much active when I log on to my pc.

Thanks for your answer vinginge, unfortunately the link was no good because if you read the article you will see that page 2 is corrupted & unreadable. I did however find another program on Google which I have tried but after installing, that one doesn't work either & I am still left with Ubuntu cluttering up my computer.
Hi Whiskeyron, I just had a quick google and it appears on my computer that the 2nd one down the list might be worth a try. It says you need a blank disc or a memory stick to delete. Good luck.

tenrec there appears to be so many conflicting reports it is difficult to know which one will work
( here's just one I lifted from the 2nd one // 22 Feb 2012, 12:10 AM
I have been working with the ubuntu boot menu options for the last 9 days. Their forum gives you one false method after the other on how to change the boot order. I do not care if Ubuntu stays where it is or gets uninstalled.. I simply want Windows 7 to be the default. I must have wasted 12 to 15 hours following their advice... nothing works.

We all have different experiences, mine was I could rearrange the order in the menu.)

Sorry Ron, I'm not a techy. Perhaps there will be one around later who can help you more.
