My laptop is about 4 years old - some may therefore say it should be upgraded/replaced. However, in the main it is still working well - it certainly does what I want. My current problem is this - sometimes (quite frequently in fact) when I press keys on the keyboard the letters don't appear on screen. It is as if the contact under the key is not being made all the time, and I have to edit quite closely what I have typed. Any ideas please?

Tip the keyboard upside down as there may be crumbs under the keys
Also try giving it a bit of a scrub on it's side with an unused paintbrush.
use a USB keyboard
I think, the keypad of the laptop's keyboard has been moved a little bit so it is happening to you that sometimes, letters don't appear on screen, letters appear on the screen with different letter which you have not typed with the keyboard hence you should give your keyboard to computer hardware's person otherwise go for the use of the online keyboard.
