Word 2010 linking to other parts of document

Hi, I have spent an hour trying to figure out a simple solution to this. I have a document, all formatted and ready to go. It is a guidance document. There is a 'contents' list I have created at the top. I want to then link each of these content sentences to a specific area of the document, i.e. so they reader can quickly go to the section that is relevant. How do I do this?! I know how to do hyperlinks to external websites etc., but this has left me perplexed!

For each "contents" heading, go to the area you want to jump to and insert a bookmark (next to the Hyperlink option on the Insert menu).

Now select the "contents" heading, right-click and select Hyperlink - this will give you the option of linking to the bookmark you've created.
