I am unable to sign in to my eBay account as it is encrypted and says it,s something to do with my browser and cookies? it was fine until I had an antivirus threat?

It sounds as if your browser's security settings are too high, so that it won't accept cookies.

You've not told us which browser you're using. If it's Internet Explorer, you'll need to go Tools > Internet Options > Security and check that he security setting for 'Internet Zone' is 'Medium'.

yes internet explorer. just checked and set on medium but still encrypted?

Try a installing and testing with a different browser such as FireFox or Opera.

Try to get in again, then drag your cursor over the text in the message to highlight it. Right-click and select Copy. Then post again here, right-clicking and selecting Paste, so that we can read exactly what the error message says.

Alternatively, try using a different browser. Very few of the 'regulars' in AB's Technology section use the dreaded Internet Explorer. Most of us prefer Firefox:

Thanks to you both for your help, opera worked in the end.

eBay has a problem with Internet Explorer. If you go to Tools, Internet Options and delete all temporary files, it should be fine. This was suggested to me by one of eBay's tecchies and seems to work fine. I only have to do it every now and then.
