Can anyone tell me why manufacturers of compatible cartridges cannot include the non-clotting liquid in their products? I do not use my printer very much so I have to use genuine cartridges.

I think, HS, that you should use your printer at least once a week just to keep things flowing, so to speak, no matter which type of cartridges you use.
That's why I've not connected my printer for years. I need to print so rarely I just opt to feel guilty and do it at work when the need arises. If I connected my printer it'd never be working when required. Or I'd use all my inks on nonsense prints just to keep it going.
With the price of cartridges so high it may prove more affordable to change the printer instead of the cartridge. My printer costs me £24 and the cartridges almost come to that amount. Don't bother with the compatible ones.

I cannot understand why there isn't somebody who reads these remarks who cannot give us an explanation why compatible cartridge manufacturers don't or won't include the liquid in their cartridges. Are they in the pay of the genuine manufacturers ? If I buy a car the petrol I buy is roughly the same quality whoever I buy it from. If a car manufacturer produced a cheap car but I have to buy the petrol at an inflated price and if I go down the road to an independent garage and buy a cheaper brand, can I expect to have to run the car at least once a week otherwise I will have trouble with it ? There is somebody out there who knows the answer to my complaint but chooses not to provide us with the information.
I was under the impression they all clogged the jets with low usage. It's conceivable the original cartridges have a more expensive better ink to justify their price though. Sounds reasonable to me. If the situation was different the compatibles would not be so reasonably priced and everyone would play safe and buy original manufacture ones anyway, so the compatible market would bomb.
I bought refilled cartridges about a month ago at about 1/3 the cost of Canon's. So far no problems, and the quality, as far as I can tell, is the same as Canon replacements. I bought them from "Cartridge World". They are an international franchise, so they must be doing something good. No, I don't own shares, and they do have stores in the UK.
I use compatable cartridges from Cartridge People by post from Jersey. I have found them cheap but as good as the real thing. Have used them for years now, ordering on line, good service
I bought a colour laser printer on ebay a few weeks ago for £50. Much better quality prints especially pictures. It came with spare cartridges worth approx £40. I don't use the printer very much so I estimate they should last about 2 years. Worth shopping around?
I've found with my HP cartridges, refills or compatibles don't work so well - and I use my printer at least once every day.

Apparently I cannot expect an answer to my query so I had better give up. Using genuine cartridges I can leave the printer for months without clogging but there must be someone out there who could give me the answer.
HS, your question was "Can anyone tell me why manufacturers of compatible cartridges cannot include the non-clotting liquid in their products?" If any of us could answer WHY, it still wouldn't help to solve your perceived printer problem. I apologize for attempting to assist you.
"I cannot understand why there isn't somebody who reads these remarks who cannot give us an explanation why compatible cartridge manufacturers don't or won't include the liquid in their cartridges. "

People on here are in the same boat as you are. I don't believe any of them are printer cartridge manufacturer. They are all consumers.
