Canon Pixma Mp495

Discovered my existing Canon Printer has no wireless connection but after doing some checking have found that Canon MP495 is. However as mentioned in a previous related post, my Desktop is connected to the internet via a Router. So my question is will we be able to connect my wife's Laptop remotely to this printer via the router. Find this all so confusing any help really appreciated.

Sorry rojash, obviously having yet another Senior Moment. Its just I want to make sure before buying because of my budget but have checked n Argos and they have one, so will get it, cause at least any problems it can be returned with no trouble.

Just to update, bought the Canon MP495 from Argos yesterday took about 30mins to set it up. Found the post from rojash re locating the printer on the laptop VERY helpful and now have the dektop and laptop connected to the printer by Wi-Fi. Thanks for ALL the help received.

But, just for clarification, I assume you still have the original printer connected direct to the Desktop via a USB cable?

If so you can also still access it from the Laptop via the Windows network system as per the previous posts that attempted to explain the method to achieve this! i.e. it does not matter that it is not wireless connected, the Windows can still access it remotely from the Laptop!

So now you could have the TWO printers that both computers could access over the network!

Hi pikyboyid no the old printer is not connected or being used and the new printer is being used via wireless to both desktop and laptop. As I said being the age I am easily confused and had been told that for the laptop to be used remotely I had to have a wireless printer and as £32 fell within my budget got a wireless one but your help has been greatly appreciated and thanks once again.
