In Word 2007, I can open a file by starting to type a known file name and then the file name is automatically completed and I don't have to worry about the characters in the file name...or at least I could. For some reason when I start to type in the file name, it doesn't complete itself and I have to go into Windows Explorer, look at the file name, etc, etc. So, what has happened and why doesn't it do what it has been doing? Ta Muchly.

If you open word, ŷou can go to recent documents (I think it's under file) And the one you want should be there.

Many Thanks Zacs, but that doesn't work and my 'recent documents' - or at least four of them - are already listed, but it's the ones I haven't opened for ages, such as 'other songs by allan watson' and all I had to do was start typing othe of other and the file name would appear, etc, but it doesn't do it now and I wonder why.

I'm sorry Zacs, but for some unfathomable reason the Word problem has now resolved itself and is now working okay; perhaps it's one of those problems arising when using a screen reader, Many Thanks though.
Glad it's sorted itself wood elf.
