I've deleted Malwarebytes thinking that was the problem. But Defender is still turned off. What started my query was that since yesterday there has been something running in the background all the time causing IE to stop working when I tried to use it. It drove me mad I was trying to find a bug that maybe the cause. Do you think that is enough protection with MSE and the firewall?
As VHG suggests Windows Defender is incorporated into MSE.
MSE plus Firewall is fine for most people, thats all I use. Malwarebytes is handy to have as well, but you need only to use it about every 2 weeks, or if you think you have a problem. If you do re-install Malwarebytes make sure you download the free version.
