Epson All In One Printer

Hi, I have replaced my epson ink cartridge in my printer with a compatable one, my printer will not accept the cartridge, it says unknown and there is a red circle with a cross by the cartridge display. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Can't help, but will say I dumped my last Epsom for the same reason. Even when I paied full wack it still refused to accept.

Remove the cartridge/s you have just installed and turn the printer off for 30 seconds. This resets your printer memory.
Check the copper banding on each of the cartridges. This is their contact chip and what communicates with the printer. Give them each a gentle wipe with a cloth to ensure they are clean and dust free.
Reinstall the cartridge to your machine.

mine is epson too and when i replaced the ink it said the same thing

This happened with my Epson 2400 Stylus. I just persevered and kept asking it to print. In the end, it did.

As already said, you just need to persevere and keep taking the cartridge out, wiping it, give it a wiggle maybe (lol) .... possibly turn the printer off and back on.
I have this problem occasionally, when I replace my Epson cartridges ....... eventually it will accept it :)

Not much use to you in this instance, but you could always mail Epson and tell them that you've been discussing the failure of Epson printers to accept compatible cartridges and this seems to be common... why is this?

They won't like that and may make you feel better. If more people complained they might decide to stop ripping customers off and either make their own cartridges more cost effective. If one brand make starts, the others have to follow.

This type of mean marketing is not unique to printers, dustbags for vacuum cleaners springs to mind.

I've had the same trouble, usually because the cartridge isn't seated correctly.

Same problem here but Epson and other companies don't really want you to use cheaper fuller cartridges. However we can't all afford the originals especially when they appear to have less ink in them. The advice to follow is as said, keep on with trying, taking them out, refitting them etc and eventually they should work, mine have. Good luck poppy.
