I'd like to replace our (Canon) printer - and would like one where the replacement ink cartridges don't cost a fortune. We print off a lot of black and white things, but very little in colour. We don't need it to be wireless and we don't need a scanner. Thanks for any advice.

I think Kodak are generally the cheapest for printer cartridges you're still looking at about 10 pounds for a black ink cartridge though

Thanks, will have a look at those.
Caveat Emptor I thought that Kodak had ceased making printers in 2012,but were still selling their existing stock.

@SirOracle...I think you have a point. Anyway I feel sure that replacement cartridges will still be available from lots of firms; even if they are just 'compatible' items.

I use an Espson Stylus SX235W(it is combined printer, copier & scanner). Not terribly expensive(see Argos catalogue). I order Epson compatible cartridges from inkjet.ie who also ship to the UK. Have a look and check out the prices. (NOT EMPLOYED BY EITHER ARGOS OR INKJET....just this is what I have)
Why not look at the HP deskjet 2054 series, as it uses just two carts.
1xb/w and 1xtri-colour. It's a scanner/copier as well, but hey, it's so cheap you might as well have that feature included.
If you want to get you hands dirty, re-ink the carts yourself. It costs pennies!
Also, don't forget that all black and white printing STILL uses a bit of colour from the colour cartridge!
