Is it possible to create a hotkey to simplify W7 startup? If so, I would be most grateful if someone could explain how to create one. Many thanks

Sorry but I don't understand this question. What do you need to simplify? What happens when you start W7?

In order to log into my laptop, I have a password which I need to type in.
It would simplify and speed up access if I could replicate my password with a single keystroke. I have been able to do this with other programs, but not with my initial start up. Is this possible?

I don't think so because any program that assigned your password to a key would not actually load until startup which is obviously after you've entered your password.
I suppose it might be possible for a key to be assigned during boot up but I've no idea if or how that could be done.
Hopefully one of our techies will see this and give you a better explanation.
