Microsoft Office

This was on my laptop when I bought it. Been fine till the last week or so, now I can't open any attachments people send unless they are in PDF and I can't even open most of my own saved documents without an advert coming up saying that the file I need to open it is not installed on my computer and wanting me to purchase it. Have installed Open Office but still can't open everything without going through a real rigmarole. Any ideas?

How long have you had laptop? Maybe it was a free trial of Office.....

Hi. Is this the same issue as the first Related Question below? I think there has been a problem with a Microsoft update

Yes that's what happened. Will Microsoft do an update that will cure this?
